We don’t know where the time went. But here we are, and somehow the baby is almost 2 weeks old!

He’s the best baby we have ever had, so far. I’ve said that for the last three babies, I think, but really, they just keep getting calmer and more content. I wonder if it has something to do with Mama being less stressed? Having done this a few times now, I tend to not worry over him as much, and I think that might help him to be more calm and relaxed. I could be all wrong about this, but that is my current theory. 🙂
We are all doing great. We have been blessed with plenty of food; I think the only cooking I have done has been a breakfast here and there.
A while back, I had received a super good coupon for a box from HelloFresh, so I decided to use it, but to schedule it for the middle of May, when I figured a few easy meals would be helpful.
I expected to cook these meals myself, but my two oldest children were adamant that THEY were going to, and Mom was sent back to the recliner, uncomplaining. They made me the most beautiful plate of food, and it tasted just as delicious as it looks.

I should probably have given that coupon to someone else, because we have been richly blessed with meals coming in. But we sure enjoyed it.
With food not being a concern, I have plenty of time to just rest and snuggle this precious baby. There is truly nothing like a newborn. He’s getting more interactive, already, looking around and making eye contact and just allllmost smiling.

Everyone has questions about his name. What are we actually going to call him? How are we going to distinguish between him and his Papa. The honest truth is that we don’t know. We named him about 20 minutes before he was born, and now we are in the “what have we done?” stage. 😅 No, it’s really not that serious, he’s not the first son with his father’s first name. We will figure it out as we go, and I’m sure one of these days we will start to call him something besides The Baby, or Little Cory.
We’re not big fans of adding Roman numerals to names, nor the Senior/Junior route, (plus I think that is only for when baby has his father’s full name, which ours does not.) Hubby’s middle name is Holt, which we already gave to Harrison for his middle name.
I expect that as Little Cory grows, and develops a personality, we will settle on a nickname that we are ok with him carrying into adulthood. (I’m still trying to break the household habit of calling him French Fry, because I do not think that is the one. 🙂 People have offered many helpful suggestions, none of which have seemed to stick… (Keep them coming! We don’t mind, and maybe your suggestion will be the one that fits.)
So for now you may call him Little Cory, until we establish what on earth we are actually going to call him 🙂

I don’t go back to my caregiving responsibilities til June, and for the month of May we have completely abandoned any semblance of schedule that we had before. Late nights reading together as a family, late mornings, and breakfast at 10:00 or later has been the “schedule” we’ve chosen for now; and yet somehow we’ve still managed to plow through a good amount of school work. It’s been wonderful, and restful, and refreshing… but I’m sure it will be good for all of us to settle back into our regular routines again.
But for now, as Hubby puts it, “We’re over here deadbeatin’ like it’s our job, and lovin’ every minute.”
‘Til next time.
Now that you have more time to think about it again, you could give him a second middle name and call him that. Elsie has three names He’s really cute and precious!
