This week has been kind of a big one, so I thought I would share another update;)
Sunday was Mothers Day, and we had the best, most special day. The message at church was, I thought, extra special. A very challenging and inspiring message for mothers, but encouraging for anyone. I’m not in a stage of life that is conducive to note taking, but several times during that service, I found myself wishing for a notepad to write down a profound thought before it escaped my brain.
Then we came home and the children served a delicious lunch, which they had planned and made with very little assistance from either me or Cory.

They also gave me a gift that completely melted my heart. Anna Grace and Oliver spent their own hard earned money and had my friend Kara help them order me a new Brumate water bottle.

They presented it so proudly, and sheepishly admitted to me later that they had taken three dollars from my wallet because they hadn’t been able to cough up quite enough money on their own. 🤣 I was blown away by their generous little loving hearts, and I will never have a water bottle that I cherish so dearly.
In the evening we went to my parents, and spent the evening with my parents and siblings and our combined multitude of children:) I am so happy that our children have so many cousins to make memories with! We had burgers with all the fixings, and Cory made his delicious, parboiled-then-double-fried-French Fries. They were epic as always. I meant to take more pictures, but I was too busy enjoying the food and fellowship, so I only got this one picture of my plate.

We thought the next milestone for this week was going to be Cory’s birthday, and my Daddy’s birthday, both on the 14th. We thought it would be super neat if our little guy would come on the 14th, and since our babies tend to be late, we certainly didn’t think we’d see him before then.
The waiting game felt like forever this time. We spent our free time getting the garden planted, multiple trips to the park, and just staying as busy as possible, to get through the days, and remember that each day passed meant we were one day closer to Baby Day.

I honestly expected the waiting to go on for a few more days at least, but on Tuesday morning, the 12th, we realized that Baby had decided “today is the day!” Sure enough, he was born at 10:20 am! We had a very hard time finding a name for him, and about thirty minutes before he was born, we finally decided we would just name him after two very special men in his life. He missed sharing their birthday by two days, but now he shares both their names, and if he grows up and follows their examples, he will be a wonderful man.

We named him Cory Everett, after his Papa and his Pappy, (my Dad) and I think it’s the most special thing. I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to differentiate between my husband and my son, though . I’m sure little Cory will end up with a nickname at some point…currently the children still call him Baby French Fry, but I’m assuming that won’t stick, for long term.
Little Cory is a super content baby. He reminds me of Harrison, in that he just eats and sleeps. We are so very much in love with him.

If anyone needs us in the next while, most likely we will be over here arguing over whose turn it is to hold the baby. 😅
Everyone asks how Harrison is adjusting, and I think he’s doing really well. Elizabeth actually might be struggling more to adjust than what he is. But everyone loves the baby, our family and friends have done really well with helping out, and I think overall , adjustments are going to be pretty smooth this time.
We are so blessed.
Have some baby spam:

This yet- funny little Harrison was praying before bed the night before Little Cory was born, (I suspect he was peeking around the room for inspiration) and I thought his little prayer was so adorable that I wrote part of it down.
“An’ t’ank you for the couch, and the other couch, and the porch, and the other porch, and bread, and the other food. And the putt-putt tractors, and the vroom-vroom tractors, and… and the thing… umm, that thing… Kara made the thing….the cow thing dat Kara made for Baby French Fry… an’ dat’s all, Amen!”
