On Friday, Cory and I celebrated our 5th anniversary. I can't believe it's been that long since we were married! It has been a wonderful five years, unpredictable, crazy busy, sometimes scary, but wonderful… we are so blessed!
We don't always do something special on our anniversary, other than maybe going out on a date, but since the fifth is kind of a milestone, we celebrated by going to a nice restaurant for dinner and then spent the night at Moose Mountain Lodge, a beautiful cabin in Rockingham county.
The lighting was dim, and not conducive to good pictures, but I took a few anyway. This doesn't do the cabin justice, it is really a pretty place to stay. It was not an elaborate expensive getaway, but since we both tend to be tightwads, it suited us perfectly!
My sweet friend Julie kept Anna Grace for us, so we enjoyed some peace and quiet, and were able to sleep in as long as we wanted. I made breakfast pizza when I got up, and we also had coffee and orange juice. I had intended to have cream puffs for dessert, but we got into them the evening before and they didn't survive that long. 😉
The most special part of our little getaway for me, was having time to sit and talk together, reflecting on the past five years and dreaming about the next fifty or so, (if God wills.) We established that we should take time to do fun things together more often and not just be so busy all the time.
I'm so thankful for the man God has given me, and the ways he has been a blessing in my life. Sometimes I take him for granted and don't appreciate all he is to me. I don't know what all God's plan involves for us, but I know that today is the first day of the rest of our lives and I want to cherish every moment!
Here are some moments I've cherished in the past:
This was taken when we were dating. Below that is one of our engagement photos and then two wedding photos, my favorite and Cory's favorite. In that order. 🙂
Then came the first anniversary.
And the second…
Third…
Fourth…
And… Fifth!! ❤️
I guess I don't need to inform you that being photographed isn't Cory's favorite pastime; his expression in some of these pictures will assure you of that. 🙂 He's pretty patient and cooperative, though, in allowing the pictures to be taken, so I don't mind if he doesn't smile.
Here are just a few more pictures I'd like to share. Nothing makes me smile more than seeing him with our little girl. ❤️
Nap time with Papa.
She loves to ride along while he works.
And don't we all love to eat? 🙂
This walk down memory lane has been fun; but my day is getting away and I need to get some work done, so I'll discontinue my rambling for now.
Have a blessed week!
